Meade County is located in western South Dakota. It is named for George Meade, a United States Army Officer.
The seat and largest city is Sturgis. This county is located in the heart of the Black Hills.
Meade County borders Butte, Meade and Pennington Counties in South Dakota, as well as Weston and Crook Counties in Wyoming.
Main highways through the county include I-90, US-14, US-212, SD-34, SD-73 and SD-79.
